Advertising Policy

Ads are separate from news — editorial independence.

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Voice of AP may earn revenue through advertisements, sponsorships, local business promotions, classified listings and other commercial partnerships to operate its news services.

We follow the principle that advertisers must not influence Voice of AP editorial decisions.

Advertisement is separate. News is separate.

1. What kinds of advertisements may appear on Voice of AP?

Voice of AP may offer advertisements such as:

  • Display advertisements
  • Banner advertisements
  • District-specific local advertisements
  • Sponsored content
  • Sponsored videos
  • Business listings
  • Classified advertisements
  • Property advertisements
  • Education advertisements
  • Job advertisements
  • Event promotions
  • Local service advertisements
  • Brand partnerships
  • Influencer collaborations
  • YouTube / social-media sponsored content

Advertisement formats may change over time.

2. Advertisements must be clearly labelled

Paid content must not be shown as ordinary news. Where needed, paid promotional content should use labels such as:

  • Advertisement / ప్రకటన
  • Sponsored
  • Promoted
  • Paid Partnership
  • Brand Collaboration
  • Sponsored Content

Readers must clearly understand that the material is paid or promotional, not editorial news.

3. Editorial independence

Buying an advertisement on Voice of AP does not:

  • Guarantee favourable news coverage
  • Remove legitimate negative news
  • Change an editorial article
  • Allow advertiser influence over a reporter
  • Grant a verification badge or editorial approval

Voice of AP editorial decisions are made by the newsroom.

4. Sponsored articles

Some businesses, organisations or brands may publish a sponsored article. Such content must be clearly labelled Sponsored Content.

A sponsored article must not be presented as an independent Voice of AP editorial investigation. Where commercial claims need support, we may ask the advertiser for supporting information.

5. Native advertising

If an advertisement resembles a news article, it must be labelled even more clearly as sponsored or promoted content. Design must not trick readers into mistaking paid content for regular news.

6. Local business advertising

Voice of AP may offer advertisements to local businesses at district and town level, for example:

  • Restaurants
  • Retail stores
  • Real-estate projects
  • Educational institutions
  • Hospitals/clinics
  • Professional services
  • Events
  • Local manufacturers
  • Automobile businesses
  • Tourism businesses

Through district targeting, an advertiser may show an advertisement only in selected areas.

7. District franchise advertising

Voice of AP district franchise partners may be allowed to sell local advertisements in their assigned district. However:

  • Central advertising standards must be followed
  • Prohibited advertisements must not be accepted
  • Political advertisements may be subject to central approval
  • Advertiser and campaign details must be recorded in the system
  • Paid content must not be disguised as news

Voice of AP central administration may suspend or remove an advertisement.

8. Political advertising

Special rules apply to political advertising. Political advertisements must be clearly labelled Political Advertisement / రాజకీయ ప్రకటన.

Where needed, advertiser or sponsor details must be shown. During election periods, applicable Indian election laws, Election Commission requirements and platform-specific rules must be followed. Voice of AP may reject a political advertisement where required.

9. Political advertisements cannot buy editorial coverage

Even if a political party, candidate or organisation buys an advertisement, they do not receive favourable editorial coverage, interview guarantees, headline control, removal of criticism, poll manipulation or editorial approval rights.

10. Influencer and creator promotions

When local influencers or creators publish promotional content through Voice of AP, any commercial relationship must be clearly disclosed — for example Paid Partnership, Sponsored Video or Brand Collaboration.

If an influencer received payment, a free product or another benefit, that must not be presented as an organic recommendation.

11. Prohibited advertisements

Voice of AP may reject advertisements involving:

  • Illegal products/services
  • Fraudulent schemes
  • Fake jobs
  • Fake investment opportunities
  • Pyramid/Ponzi schemes
  • Gambling prohibited by applicable law
  • Illegal betting
  • Counterfeit products
  • Drugs or illegal substances
  • Sexually exploitative content
  • Hate-based advertisements
  • Violence-promoting content
  • Fake government schemes
  • Misleading financial guarantees
  • False medical cures
  • Scam loan advertisements
  • Phishing links
  • Malware
  • Fake documents/certificates
  • Illegal weapons

12. Misleading advertisements

An advertisement must not include false claims, fake discounts, fabricated reviews, fake testimonials, misleading before/after images, impossible financial returns or false job guarantees. Voice of AP may ask for supporting evidence.

13. Health and medical advertising

Health-related advertisements need extra care. The following claims must not be allowed without supporting evidence:

  • Guaranteed cure
  • Instant weight loss
  • Cancer cure
  • Permanent diabetes cure
  • Guaranteed fertility
  • Medically impossible claims

Prescription medicines, regulated health products and medical procedures must follow applicable Indian advertising and medical rules.

14. Financial advertisements

Investment, trading, loan, insurance or financial-services advertisements must not promise misleading returns or guaranteed profits. Where needed, we may verify the advertiser’s regulatory status (for example SEBI, RBI or IRDAI registration or authorisation).

15. Real estate advertisements

Real estate may be an important local advertising category. Where needed, we should collect project name, developer details, location, approvals, applicable RERA number and contact information from the advertiser.

Voice of AP does not treat an advertisement as property title or legal verification. Readers should verify independently.

16. Education advertising

Advertisements for schools, colleges, coaching centres and training institutes must not claim guaranteed ranks, guaranteed placements, fake university affiliation or misleading success figures. Voice of AP may ask for proof.

17. Jobs advertising

Voice of AP may reject or remove job listings that ask candidates for a registration fee, interview fee, security deposit or recruitment payment. Job verification cannot be bought through payment.

18. Children and young audiences

Because Voice of AP also serves younger audiences, we take extra care with advertisements. Ads that exploit children, encourage unsafe behaviour or contain inappropriate content may be restricted.

19. Personal data and ad targeting

Voice of AP may use limited targeting signals such as district, language, content category and device/context. When personalised advertising is used, applicable privacy and cookie requirements must be followed.

For more information, see the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

20. Third-party advertising platforms

Where needed, Voice of AP may use third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense, Google Ad Manager or other approved networks. Third-party advertisements may also be subject to those providers’ own policies and privacy practices.

21. Advertisement placement

Advertisements must not heavily disturb the reader experience. In particular:

  • Do not place an intrusive ad between the headline and the first paragraph
  • Do not use fake “Download” or “Breaking News” buttons
  • Do not present an advertisement as a navigation control
  • Avoid excessive pop-ups

News readability takes priority.

22. Breaking news and ads

In breaking or emergency situations (cyclone, flood, major accident, public emergency), public-interest information may take priority over commercial advertising. Ads that reduce the prominence of important alerts may be temporarily restricted.

23. Advertiser responsibilities

Text, logos, images, videos, claims, website links and product information supplied by the advertiser must be lawful and accurate. Advertisers must hold the copyright and trademark permissions needed to use their advertising material.

24. Voice of AP advertisement review

After an advertisement is submitted, Voice of AP may Approve, Request Changes, Reject, Pause or Remove it. Even if an advertisement is already live, it may be removed if a policy violation is found.

25. AI use in paid content

AI-generated advertising images, videos or synthetic media must not mislead the public. Fake celebrity endorsements, deepfake endorsements or fabricated testimonials are not allowed.

26. Corrections to advertisements

If materially incorrect information is found in an advertisement, we may ask the advertiser to correct it. Serious misleading claims may lead to immediate suspension.

27. Complaints about advertisements

Readers should be able to report an advertisement (for example via Report Advertisement). Complaint reasons may include: misleading, scam, offensive, inappropriate, fake product, privacy concern, political-ad disclosure issue.

28. Refunds / commercial terms

Advertisement pricing, campaign duration, cancellations, refunds and billing terms are set by the commercial agreement or rate card. This Advertising Policy is not a substitute for an advertiser contract.

29. Voice of AP advertisement promise

Even though advertising revenue matters to Voice of AP: paying money does not buy the news. Advertisements do not control our newsroom decisions. Paid content must be clear to readers and kept separate from editorial content.
