Corrections Policy

How to report errors and how we correct them.

At Voice of AP, our primary goal is to deliver accurate, responsible and transparent journalism.

We try to verify information as far as possible before publishing. Even so, when an error is identified in any news story, video, photo, headline or other content, we treat it as our duty to review it promptly and make the necessary correction.

How to report an error

If you believe any content published on Voice of AP contains an error, please let us know.

When sending a correction request, please include as many of these details as possible:

  • The relevant story/video URL
  • The information that is incorrect
  • An explanation of what the correct information is
  • An official document, link or other evidence if available
  • Your name and contact details
  • Email: corrections@voiceofap.com
  • Contact Newsroom: Newsroom phone number to be announced
  • Website: VoiceofAP.com/contact

How we review requests

After a correction request arrives, our editorial team:

  • Reviews the original story and the sources used.
  • Speaks with the relevant reporter or editor if needed.
  • Re-verifies the information through official or trustworthy sources.
  • Corrects the story if an error is confirmed.
  • For significant changes, clearly shows a “Correction” or “Updated/Corrected” note on the story.

Minor changes

Grammar errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation and formatting may be fixed without changing the meaning of the story.

A separate correction note may not be required in every such case.

Significant corrections

We treat errors related to the following as significant corrections:

  • A person’s name or designation
  • Date or time
  • Place
  • Numbers or statistics
  • Election results
  • Government decisions
  • Court or police information
  • An allegation made against a person
  • Information related to health or safety
  • Misidentifying a photo or video
  • Misquoting someone

In such cases we do not only change the story; we also state as clearly as possible what was wrong and what we corrected.

Example:

Correction: 29 August 2026

An earlier version of this story stated that the project cost was ₹50 crore. According to official documents, the correct amount is ₹35 crore. The story has been corrected.

Removing a story

In general, we prefer to correct an inaccurate story with the right information rather than delete it entirely.

However, content may be removed or taken offline in cases such as:

  • A serious factual error
  • A legal issue
  • A serious breach of personal privacy
  • Content used without permission
  • Dangerous or harmful information
  • Personal details published in error
  • Content that seriously violates editorial standards

Where appropriate, we will also provide an explanation related to the removal.

The difference between an Update and a Correction

Update: Adding further details to a story when new information arrives.

Correction: Fixing information that was already published incorrectly.

We keep the two as clearly distinct as possible.

Breaking news

During breaking news, information can change quickly.

For that reason, early stories aim to use only verified information that is available at the time. When new information arrives, we update with an Updated label including the time and date.

If earlier published information turns out to be wrong, we clearly show Corrected.

Social media corrections

If an error is published not only on the Voice of AP website but also on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X or other social platforms, we will publish a correction/update on the same platform as far as possible.

Where needed, we try not only to delete the incorrect post but also to tell followers what the correct information is.

Stories sent by the public

News tips, photos, videos, local problems and citizen reports sent by readers are not published as news immediately.

Our editorial team publishes them only after verification.

If new evidence arrives later, we may make a necessary correction or update.

Right of reply

When we publish a significant allegation or criticism about a person, organisation or authority, we try, where possible, to obtain their response.

If a credible response arrives after publication, we may update the story based on editorial relevance.

Extra care with political stories

For stories about political parties, leaders or elections:

  • Every major claim must have a source.
  • There must be a clear distinction between campaigning and news.
  • A claim from one party must not be presented as established fact.
  • If an error is confirmed, it must be corrected regardless of party.

AI-assisted content

Even when AI is used for translation, summary, headline suggestions or other editorial assistance, the Voice of AP editorial team remains responsible for the published information.

If an error occurs because of AI, the same corrections policy applies.

Our transparency commitment

Our goal is not to hide an error — it is to identify it, correct it, and tell readers clearly.

Protecting the truth and holding public trust is Voice of AP’s editorial responsibility.
