3. AI-generated drafts
In some cases AI may prepare headline suggestions, short summaries, article drafts, social-media captions, push-notification text, video scripts and SEO descriptions.
These remain subject to Voice of AP editorial standards.
An editor may revise, reject or withhold an AI-generated draft from publication.
4. Automatic news publishing
Voice of AP may publish some low-risk information quickly through automation, for example:
- Government announcements
- Weather information
- Traffic information
- Exam results
- Job notifications
- Event notices
- Public-service announcements
- Sports results
- Official scheme updates
Automation may be used when such information comes from a trustworthy source.
However, a Voice of AP administrator/editor always has the authority to Edit, Hide, Unpublish, Correct or Archive that story.
5. AI controls on sensitive news
Voice of AP follows a policy of not allowing unrestricted automatic publishing in areas such as:
- Political allegations
- Sensitive election-related information
- Criminal allegations
- Court cases
- Communal / religious tension
- Personal allegations
- Sensitive information involving children
- Suicide / self-harm
- Serious medical information
- Graphic violence
- Unverified citizen allegations
Such stories are sent for editorial review when needed.
6. AI is not a substitute for a real source
Voice of AP’s editorial policy is not to treat AI-generated information alone as a sufficient basis for news.
Wherever possible, we try to verify original information with an official statement, government website, police statement, court document, authorised news agency, verified organisation or a direct reporter/source.
7. AI hallucinations and errors
Artificial Intelligence may in some cases generate incorrect information, give wrong names, confuse dates or places, or misread the original material.
Therefore Voice of AP does not assume that every piece of AI-generated information is necessarily correct. When an error is identified, we try to correct it promptly.
8. AI-generated images
Where needed, Voice of AP may use AI-generated illustrations or representational images.
If such an image is not a photograph of the real event, it should be clearly labelled where appropriate as “AI Generated Image” or “Representational Image”.
An AI-generated image must not be presented as documentary evidence of a real event.
9. AI videos and synthetic media
Voice of AP may use AI tools to create explainers, graphics, subtitles, voiceovers, animations and short videos.
When synthetic media is used, audiences must not be misled.
Voice of AP will not knowingly publish manipulated video/audio that makes it appear a real person said words they did not say.
10. Deepfake policy
Voice of AP does not permit deepfake video, cloned voice, fake interview, manipulated photograph or fabricated speech that misrepresents people to be published as news.
If we report on a deepfake in the public interest, we will clearly state that it is manipulated/synthetic content.
11. AI and political news
We take special care with AI-generated information in election and political news.
AI must not invent a Voice of AP political opinion, make unverified allegations about a candidate, fabricate quotes, or invent election results or polling data.
Election-related facts should be verified, as far as possible, through official or trustworthy sources.
12. Public submissions and AI
For videos, photos, complaints, local news, voice notes and documents sent by the public, AI tools may assist with transcription, translation, location/category detection, duplicate detection, moderation assistance and summary creation.
AI is not a substitute for verification. A citizen submission must not be published automatically as news, especially when it contains allegations.
13. People who ask not to be named
If a user asks for their contribution to remain anonymous, Voice of AP will respect that choice as far as possible.
Even if an AI system needs to process the material, the user’s identity must not be shown on the public article without need.
14. Copyright and AI
Voice of AP does not follow a practice of rewriting other publishers’ full articles with AI and presenting them as our own content.
Wherever possible we identify the original source, give attribution, use permitted APIs/RSS/licensed feeds, and do not reproduce substantial copyrighted content without permission. Using AI does not remove copyright responsibilities.
15. Third-party AI services
Where needed, Voice of AP may use third-party AI services such as language models, translation systems, speech-to-text tools, video-generation tools, image-processing tools and moderation systems. These services may change over time.
When sending sensitive or personal data to third-party AI systems, we try to follow privacy and security considerations.
16. Personal information
When using AI systems, Voice of AP tries to process only as much personal information as necessary.

17. Content involving children
We take special care with content involving minors. AI must not unnecessarily reveal a child’s identity, create inappropriate profiling, or generate sensitive information.

AI systems may contain bias or uneven treatment. Voice of AP tries to apply editorial review and moderation so content does not promote injustice or hatred on the basis of caste, religion, gender, region, language or social background.

21. Final editorial responsibility for AI
Final responsibility for content published on Voice of AP rests with Voice of AP. Our policy is to use AI as an editorial assistant, not as a source of authority.
